Costs phiControl

The optimization costs for your plant depend on various specific data:

  • type of compressor
  • geographic location of your plant
  • as well as other plant-specific parameters

Estimate of energy savings through integration of the phiControl solution:

Using the following savings equation, which considers the theoretical basics of thermodynamics as well as experience values from day-to-day operating procedures, you can easily estimate the possible energy savings potential [MWh/year] of your refrigeration plant.

Savings[MWh/year] =            (8 – 0.3 ∙ Tmin[°C]) ∙ Pelec[kW] ∙ E[%/year]

The following parameters are required for the use of this savings equation for compression chillers:

  • electrical output of compressors Pelec [kW]
  • minimal coolant temperature after recooling Tmin [16...20 °C]
  • average workload of the plant E [%/year] (utilized capacity[days]/max. capacity [days])

Example

The following example of a compression chiller illustrates the use of the savings equation. For a plant with the following parameters:

  • electrical compressor output Pelec = 900kW,
  • minimal technological coolant temperature after recooling Tmin=20°C
  • average workload of the plant E = 30%/year

The equation results in an annual savings potential of ca. 590 MWh/year. For a detailed calculation of the savings potential, additional values such as type of compressor, geographic location of the plant, and other plant-specific parameters are required. In the near future, it will be possible to carry out these calculations with our Online Savings Calculator.
