automatisierung

The phiControl solution is based on the so-called refrigeration output value COP (Coefficient Of Performance), an evaluation criterion for chillers. COP presents the ratio of refrigeration output to the electric energy required by the compressor engine and ranges from 2.5 to 10.

COP = refrigeration capacity/ electrical output.

During the purchase of a refrigeration plant, the COP is part of the contract at given parameters and full-capacity conditions, such as cold water temperatures Tcold = 6°C / 12°C, coolant temperatures Thot = 27°C / 32°C, and refrigeration amount. The diagram (COP) shows that the refrigeration output value COP increases with decreasing coolant temperatures. Under recalculation of the compressor driver input, this results in savings between 3 – 3.5 % per 1°K decrease in coolant temperature, depending on the type of compressor (screw or turbo compressor).

temperatur diagram

A view of the annual temperature cycle (e.g., Berlin) shows that refrigeration plants can be operated year-round without vapor formation over the cooling tower at a coolant temperature below 27°C (fixed coolant temperature in current refrigeration plants). Based on meteorological conditions, phiControl performs sensory and mathematical calculations online to determine the optimal coolant-based operation level for your plant. The weather-guided coolant regulation allows you to operate your entire refrigeration plant near the energetic optimum.
